Our daughter loves these "if you give a.." books and has been collecting almost all of them. For her 4th birthday we had a donut party and this had to be a present for the party, especially since the dog in the story looks exactly like our dog. Very cute story and helps kid follow along with a if-then story line.

Another lovely installment in the "If You Give a...." series. These are my absolute favorite childrens books- I give them as gifts at every baby shower or birthday gifts to little ones. This book features an adorable pup and a delightfully predictable adventure. I love watching the littles learn logic and reasoning to understand the story.the illustrations are exactly what you hope for from Ms. Bond, as well.Laura Numeroff never disappoints and as always, I hope there is a next book!

I purchased this book as a "guest" book for my daughters 1st birthday that was donut themed. It was super cute, great quality, and I can't wait to read it to her when she gets older.

We love this series of books and this was the last one to add to our collection. I was disappointed that it came with a dust jacket and plain book cover underneath - every other book we have in the series has a colorful and fun hard cover and no dust jacket - which is how hardcover books should come for kids in my opinion. I also didn't think this one was as good as the rest, in both illustrations and story line. But my 20 month old daughter seemed good with it and at the end of the day, she's the one it's really for!

There is a whole series of "If you give a" books. They are all cleverly written and funny. My 2 year old daughter loves them and laughs hysterically when I read them. I enjoy reading them too. The pages are vibrant and the illustrations are beautiful. The pages are also durable and thick which I appreciate as a mom of a tot.Overall, this is a beautiful, fun, and durable book that was well written. I recommend it. Check out "If you give a pig a pancake". (same author) That's our favorite book!

I love this series. The story is a little boring but worked perfectly to use for teaching cause and effect and sequencing for my first graders. I would recommend the others over this one.

Big Decisions is the first Linda Byler book I've ever read, but I am an avid Amish romance reader. The quality of the writing really surprised and delighted me. We often read in Amish romance novels that worry is a sin and that God is in control and will not give you more than you are capable of. Well, this book illustrated this very idea with humor, wisdom, and skill. The main character, Lizzie, is a young Amish woman embarking on an exciting time in her life- joining church, getting engaged, married, and so on, but as she goes through each step you can see her anxiety rise and her attempts at keeping everything under control. With many reminders that it's unnecessary to worry so much, it is hilarious to see her spin out of control only to learn the same lesson again and again. Such a tale of human nature. It's almost like giving you a chance to laugh at yourself. Not only is this book funny, but is is also touching and wise. While us humans fail again and again, we often pick ourselves up and learn from our mistakes (only to repeat them again later!). I love what can be learned from this book. It is delightful and insightful! Now to get the first two books of the series! I highly recommend it!

Selfish is the best word to describe Lizzie. Even after marriage it takes a few years for her to understand what everyone has been trying to tell her for her entire life. Than she finally sees how much easier life and living can be.While reading this series, I could picture the differences between my sister and myself, and then the vast differences between my three sons. It has always been interesting to me how each sibling can be so very different and yet be raised the same.A very good and thought provoking series.

What a wonderful departure from the typical Amish romance. Watching the characters grow in wisdom through experience made the book fascinating and rewarding to read.

I loved this book. It was interesting to read and know that everyone has feelings much the same. I recommend this book to all who.love to read.

Did not enjoy as much as some of Linda's books. It moved too slowly for most of the book and went through 40 years in the last few chapters.

I really enjoy my books by Linda Byler and these 3-in-a-series are great. When reading her books it's almost like you are there with the family(ies) she is writing about. Great story, a great read, and hard for me to put down once I get started. I will be rereading this book. Also a little FYI when ordering from Amazon there is no delay in receiving your book(s). Very prompt.

This book is so fantastic. The charts and illustrations you will not see anywhere else. Clarence Larkin was a man ahead of his time. God gave him great insight into the Bible and prophecy. His drawings are unparalleled. You won't be disappointed in this book.The paperback edition is priced reasonable. If you get the same in hardback cover it will cost about $43. The Estate of Clarence Larkin sells the charts in a larger format if you find them hard to read. The charts are inexpensive. Just google "Clarence Larkin Estate" and you will find the site. I have a magnifying glass that helps me and I am also an older person with trouble with my eyesight. For most people there would be no problem.My husband has been studying these charts and reading Clarence Larkin books for 30 yrs. He has also had a Bible Study where he taught this material. I highly recommend this book.

I got this primarily for a high res version of the charts (ie you can read the little itty bitty text, but only with magnifying glass). This edition of the work promised to provide. It did provide exactly that. I haven't looked at all the charts. The main one I wanted was Book of Revelation. It is very good quality spanning 2 pages. They even put a space in the seam so you can easily see both sides of the chart without it being glued into the binding.Some people will complain that even these high resolution images in this edition are hard to read because text is so small. That is absolutely true. That is just a function of the size of the original work, not a deficiency in this edition. In that, you will need a magnifying glass to see some of the super fine print. Larkin's originals were huge, and still had tiny print when he crammed a LOT of writing into a really small space.If you want HUGE graphics and larger print, you need to buy the version printed by the Larkin Estate directly. Be prepared to pay at least twice what you are paying here and only get the charts themselves, not the book. I may buy the supersize charts from Larkin Estate myself. It would be nice to see them really big. What I really want is the wall sized, full color version used in the "Thief in the Night" movie by the "left behind" preacher. Larkin's Book of Revelation chart, in color, covering the entire wall of a barn. THAT would be cool.As long as you understand the print MUST be small because it is proportional to the very large chart, you will be happy with this edition. Best price I have found anywhere.

Would be good if I could read the text and diagrams. Large book with text photocopied in small print onto the middle of the page. I sometimes open it and hope to read it but text is too small. Not well thought out or practical at all. However, I can see the content looks excellent if your willing to sit with an enlarger for everything

I am so glad to see this book in a cheaper paperback as it has been very expensive in the past over 50 years and difficult to get. I paid fifty dollars for my copy in 1976.This book was written around 1917 by Clarence Larkin.It is filled with easy to use graphs as well as the explaination of the graph. It is an excellent book to use for reference as a teaching aid or just for private Bible study. It is very through teaching of the dispensational ages as the Bible sets them out. Knowing the seven ages in the Bible is the "Key" to unlocking many truths and placing them into proper order. Example; Age of innocents,conscience, human government, age of law , age of grace, which is the age we are living in at this present time.The ages explain how God is dealing with man in each age and why;This book is a must have for any serious Bible student. I have notice that the more recent graphs on the dispensation are all taken from Mr Larkins works.Mr Larkin didn't just do graphs but is a great Bible Student himself. His teaching is excellent. His insite can only be from our Dear Savior Himself.If you can afford the Hardback I highly recommend it as the paperback has smaller print and not as easy to read. My vision is poor therefore I prefer to larger print.

Everything and more than I expected. As a bible student for over 40 years, Larkin's charts, order and revelations are laid out in such a fashion that anyone, even the novice bible student can get something out of his charts even if you don't necessarily agree with everything! Because he was a mechanical engineer by education, he took those skills learned and put together a wonderful tool for the modern day Christian who desires a glimpse into the prophetic past and future and would like a road map of how to grow in the Lord.

Larkin's Dispensational Truth is a classic, one that I have always wanted to own. This reprint, however, is sadly lacking. The original book was printed in a landscape format, whereas this was printed in portrait mode, which necessitated the shrinkage of the charts to to the point that they are too small to read in many cases. The paper and binding are very low quality, as well. By all means, buy a copy of Dispensational Truth, but avoid this edition.

I'm using this to teach. Get it. You will then learn how to rightly divide the word of truth! So much error out there. It's every where especially on the internet.

This is a mind-blower! I cannot fully comprehend everything Larkin has put in this book, but it has some great graphic organizers and helps me better understand certain parts of Biblical truth.

Thank you to Mr. Jack E. Levin, a gifted and talented author and illustrator, for again providing us with another treasure, not only for young people to read and enjoy, but adults too. 'Our Police' is a must read. The illustrations are beyond beautiful; with all illustrations being done by Mr. Jack Levin personally. Millions of us have never met Mr. Levin, however, we feel as though we know him each time we read one of his wonderful books. This book will become a wonderful part of our library we have at home and we will share it with others. The detail of the illustrations is incredible - each one a work of art in and of itself and the story it tells about everything that our Police do on a daily basis for us. We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Jack E. Levin, however....just look at the treasures he has left for us; all of his incredible books, to be enjoyed for generations to come. Mr. Levin was not only a gifted and talented author, but a true American, who had a very special way of telling the story about our country and the people in it. He was proud to be an American, and he was proud of our Police and we are so very proud of him.

Children need to know that policemen are there to help them. Many lives have been saved because a policemen put their self in danger to protect them.

Finally, a children’s book that educates children about very important members of all our communities, Our Police. The police are much maligned by certain misguided members of our country even though they put their lives on the line time and again for us all. Jack E. Levin has given us a beautiful story that is wonderfully illustrated. This book should be on all our bookshelves.

This book immediately became my almost-2yr old son's favorite bed time read. Every time we finish, he asks me to read it again. I think we go through it 4 or 5 times a night. He doesn't sit still often but when we read this book he is captivated, he tells me what is happening in each colorful illustration, and he always cheers "hooray for our police" at the end. What a Wonderful book that teaches respect for our heroes at a time when they are otherwise villified. Thank you Jack Levin.

About the Author

Gerald Corey is Professor Emeritus of Human Services and Counseling at California State University at Fullerton. He regularly teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in group counseling and ethics in counseling. He received his doctorate in counseling from the University of Southern California. Dr. Corey is a Diplomate in Counseling Psychology, American Board of Professional Psychology; a licensed psychologist; and a National Certified Counselor. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Division 17, Counseling Psychology; and Division 49, Group Psychotherapy); a Fellow of the American Counseling Association; and a Fellow of the Association for Specialists in Group Work. He and Marianne Schneider Corey received ASGW's Eminent Career Award in 2001 and the American Mental Health Counselors Association's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. He received the Outstanding Professor of the Year Award from California State University at Fullerton in 1991. Dr. Corey is the author or co-author of 16 textbooks in counseling currently in print, along with more than 60 journal articles and book chapters. He has published six books with the American Counseling Association, including THE ART OF INTEGRATIVE COUNSELING, Fourth Edition (2019). I have been a quilter for over 20 years and this book helped me see color and fabrics in a whole new way. There is a great deal of detailed information about choosing fabrics and creating subtle color combinations. The projects in the book are stunning and relate directly to the color theory she is teaching. At the same time there is an expectation of a certain level of sewing skills. I would not recommend it to a beginner as I think they would have a difficult time constructing the projects.

This is Yoko Saito's best book. While it was not the first one I purchased, it helped me fully understand how to work with Japanese taupe fabrics, which are just luscious! I now own most or all of her books and after buying this one I was able to better understand and appreciate why projects in her subsequent books have such striking appeal.

If you already have some experience sewing this book will take you to the next level. I am in love with the Japanese esthetic and Yoko Saito's, Taupe Color Theory is a wonderful book for those like me who needed a refresher to inspire some ideas for small quilts or would be great for someone newly interested in Japanese Taupe quilting. The variety of quilt pattern styles as well as the gorgeous projects have really inspired me. I am partway through a lovely bag already. I look forward to creating many more projects inspired by this book.

Love these inspiring suggestions for using taupe colors in quilting and useful projects. This is another book my quilting friends have purchased after looking through it. A movement has been inspired by Yoko Saito's artful use of beautiful color and textures in our area. As Yoko herself was inspired by designs of quilts when she saw the American craft of quilting. Preferring handwork techniques to machine stitching, she has returned our attention to quality crafting with simple needle and thread.sw

The skill and artistry of this author's applique is just stunning! Her subtle use of color is refined, elegant and beautiful. I am in awe of her talent, but she provides such detailed instructions and helpful step-by-step photos, that I am tempted to try my hand. Even if I never make anything from this book, however, it was worth the money for the pleasure of seeing such beautiful work!

I bought this so I could follow along with others who wanted to work through the book on the blog "The Caffeinated Quilter." Keep in mind that the "Notes from the Publisher" in the beginning of the book clearly state that the techniques "might suggest that intermediate or advanced quilters will be more comfortable working on these projects." This is definitely true! This isn't a book for those just beginning to quilt. The author has assumed that the reader who buys this book already has basic skills required for piecing, drafting patterns, quilting, and following directions, and will have needle, thread, and other tools needed to pursue the projects (as an advanced quilter, I appreciated this, as so often most quilt books include introductory pages that I find repetitive). While many people balk at the cost of the book, if you're an experienced quilter, I can assure you that you'll get your money's worth. I have quite a few books in my craft library, but none have given me such challenge, joy, and satisfaction as this one. Many quilt books I buy have one or two projects that I'd like to do, but this one has a storehouse of information and projects. This is the layout of the book: Chapter 1 is "20 Taupe Color Collections: Lessons in pulling together taupe color collections and showcasing them using quilt blocks" and "The 5 Senses and Japanese Taupe Color Theory"; Chapter 2 is "14 Projects: Putting Taupe Color Theory into Practice"; Chapter 3 is "18 Taupe Color Projects to Make: 18 fun color collections reminiscent of favorite things." I have worked through twelve of the twenty color collections thus far, and I can't believe how much I've learned about the taupe color wheel and taupe color theory. I'm also in the midst of finishing one of the bags in the second section of the book. Another thing I like about this book is that most of the initial part of the projects entail hand-sewing and quilting, so it is easy to keep your current project in a basket to pick up when you have time (for those of us who work, this is a huge plus). You can work through each color theory "lesson" at your own pace and then choose other projects from the second part of the book when you want to do something new. This is also a beautiful book to look through (I wish it had the "Look Inside" feature so potential buyers could see some of the pages). I am so glad that Yoko Saito's books are being translated into English, and I hope that eventually all of her books will be translated. There is this lovely aesthetic in Japanese quilters' books that I really appreciate, reflected in diagrams or assumptions that the reader will intuitively know how to construct a purse, for example (though sometimes I wish they would share a few more steps!). Having said that, the challenge to figure things out might be part of the learning process too. I highly recommend this book to advanced quilters. It is a veritable treasure house of information and projects that will keep you busy for years, not just days.

A good review of Japanese taupes and how to combine them into beautiful projects. This isn't just a pattern book. It is more about taupes -- what they are, how to combine colors -- with a few patterns. I would call it more "educational" that her other books, but it wa just what I was looking for as a research tool before making a queen size taupe quilt.
