I did not like this book. The best designs were shown on the cover

I had this book years ago and when I downsized my library I made the mistake of donating it. The symbols and motifs are wonderful for painting pottery or doing graphic designs.

I wish there was more detail on the meanings and history of the individual symbols but they definitely beautiful designs.

I purchased this book for designs and ideas to use on ceramics. The designs are nice, simple line drawings that are easily adaptable to tiles and other ceramics.

I collect these books for various reasons but mostly to capture the ancient drawing designs of our ancestors. Great addition to others I have.

What fun! It's exactly what the cover promises -- a kickass heroine is put in a deadly dilemma and must risk everything to clear her name. This leads her on a mission into the Lower Realm (dark elves! blood sidhe!), which is both terrifying and not at all what the Upper Realm elves told her. She's not sure what she's doing, and yep, she makes mistakes, but she also meets allies along the way, and learns some secrets about herself, as well. What starts out as investigating a single attack leads to her uncovering a bigger plot afoot, and Rie is in the middle of it, whether she likes it or not. What a great adventure! Plus there are bloodthirsty pixies! I kept reading "one more chapter" until I was done with the book, and then my first thought was that I couldn't wait to read book 2, to see what happens next!The book is called "dark fantasy" but it's clear that people vary in their definitions of that. The story didn't have the disturbing, morally questionable, psychologically damaged, or horror elements that I associate with dark fantasy. Sure, the bad guys are evil, and the good guys make poor choices sometimes, but they stay good guys, and evil exists to be conquered, not embraced. Just the way I like it!I rate books within their "weight class," as it were, rather than comparing every book to Hugo winners. This is one of those indie books that will defy any of your lowered expectations of independent publishing. The writing is fast, clean, and engaging, and the book (I bought the paperback) is beautiful inside and out; it's 100% professional, through and through. It's especially impressive for a new novelist. I can't wait to see what Haskell does when her style refines and matures even further.I'd recommend this book for anyone who likes a good, solid fantasy adventure. Having read ahead to the later books already, I can say that yes, it's worth diving into the whole series, and the quality keeps up all the way through!

I had to buy this book for an MBA course, and I've read half the book so far. It seems interesting and provides insight into cultural differences I hadn't previously considered.

This basic, solid book on global business takes nothing for granted. Author Ernest Gundling teaches by example and illustration, and has something approaching a horror of direct statement. At the end of each chapter, where a bolder writer might insert points to remember, he provides, instead, lists of questions to consider. This book will tell you the skills you need and will make you very aware of your deficits, but it will not tell you precisely how to develop those skills. Gundling does provide a wealth of little, fictitious anecdotes about people who have done the right or wrong thing in global business. In a refreshingly humble approach, he sometimes uses his own blunders as examples of what not to do. We recommend his book, which brings to mind that Socrates was judged the wisest of men because he knew he knew nothing. Readers will come a few steps closer to such Socratic enlightenment. What you may not know about conducting yourself in international business would fill a book - this one.

Pamela Howard is a practising scenographer and theatre director, specializing in music theatre and music events. She is Professor Emeritus at the University of the Arts London (Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design) and a frequent guest at universities and colleges all over the world. In 2008 she was awarded the OBE for services to drama. She is an Emeritus member of the OISTAT Education Commission, and original creator of SCENOFEST – the International Festival of Scenography, now part of the Prague Quadriennal.

This is a great book written by a wonderful artist.

An exciting and stimulating book that will make every serious theatre artist think, and think hard. This book will be used as a teaching tool in advanced courses and should be welcomed as a touchstone for discussions amongst serious directors and designers. Maybe it's not at quite the same level as The Dramatic Imagination or The Empty Space, but it's surely in the same category of seminal works that will exert a positive influence for years to come. I can't wait to use its insights and methodologies as I begin the creative process for my next production.

I found it to be an eye opening book my dream won't wait for me so why should I wait on it

This book is an eye-opener, a brilliant and utterly fresh approach to the art of theatre design. Pamela Howard leads the reader through the revolution in stage visualization that has taken us from decoration and backdrop to the astonishing complexities (and, more important, the visionary minimalism)of theatre at its highest levels of achievement in the 20th century. I can think of no better introduction for a beginning designer to the limitless possibilities of her or his medium. And I believe even the most accomplished experts in the field will find original and provocative challenges to conventional wisdom here. Best of all, the book is written as an intensely-felt personal statement, based on wide world experience of working with the great theatre practitioners of our time. And it's written with a directness and clarity worthy of a great stage design.

I have used the book only for research purposes, and I have to say, its scope is narrow and fails to credit the history of its subject. A book on scenography that contains only a cursory comment on Josef Svoboda seems a bit unsupported to me. As far as a very general look at the ideas of scenography it is mediocre at best. When defining an inherently undefinable term, it seems only appropriate to describe some the individuals which have coined the term, Howard fails to do this, and I feel the book suffers because of it.

I love this cookbook The ingredients I need to prepare my meals I already have in my freezer and pantry. The recipes are easy to follow and the food taste wonderful. It simple and easy. Also it helps in weight loss. I have lost 30lbs using this cookbook.

I like this cookbook however, I was surprised at the number of recipes for 3 quart slow cookers. It would be helpful if there were some directions as to how to alter cooking times if you are going to make the recipe in the larger slow cooker. I do realize that you can double the recipe for the larger slow cooker, but sometimes you don't really that much of one dish, especially if you have not made the recipe before.

Gave it away. Many recipes use some prepared food and others are not really for slow cookers. Very disappointed. I may have chosen two that I think are worth trying.

I have the, Fix It and Forget It, regular version of this book ,which has some light recipes included and love it. This book has ALL light recipes and a lot of them. Excellent slow cooking books, both.

Don't let the Cooking Light scare you. I have tried many of the recipes in this book and I have loved the results on most of them.

Fix it and forget it books are always great. Inspiration for yummy dinners. Would recommend to anyone whether they are an experienced cook or not.

Just to keep dinner interesting.
