Don't get me wrong, three stars doesn't mean this book isn't any good, its just my personal way of grading. 3 1/2 stars would be closer, "It's okay and I liked it". I would recommend reading to any who enjoy true crime. I'm not as excited about juror accounts and/or author recreations of what happened in the courtroom as I prefer a story, a novel form of true crime. The book was well written and kept my interest throughout. The only thing I want to say as to any sort of criticism and I wouldn't call it that so much as something that simply became aggravating, is every day & every time someone stood up to speak, or sat on the witness stand, I'd have to read about the clothes they were wearing; after awhile it became absurd. I understand at first, to set a story in the beginning, but every moment of every day, what the prosecutor wore, the defense, the co-counsels, the judge (under his robes) the bailiff, the witnesses, etc. I was curious myself as to the pink handcuffs and can see why Sanders asked about those, but ironically it still falls into the category of fashion. I can't help but picture Mr. Sanders taking notes in the courtroom every day about what each person was wearing; the notes must have been enormous...it made me laugh at first, then I just started skipping the outfits... lolAlso, I think it was a juror who likened Michele Anderson to "A Beautiful Mind" in comparison to her mental problems, however, in no way was she like John Nash who won a Nobel prize in economic theory; Sanders was no doubt simply relating conversational events but it seems like a notation would have been made that there's no comparison between Michele Anderson & John Nash of the biography A Beautiful Mind.

I debated about how many stars to rate this book because I liked it but found the frequent descriptions of who was wearing what unimportant to the story and seemed like fluff-filler material. As a fan of true crime books and knowing of this horrible family masacre, I was interested in how the jurors felt, what they were thinking and how being a major part of this trial affected them. However, Mr. Sanders appeared more like a member of the gallery. I was very impressed with Judge Ramsdel's patience with the constant outbursts and interruptions from the gal who claimed she was protected Ms. Anderson's rights for the appeal process. The epilogue at the conclusion of this book was very confusing. An epilogue is supposed to be comments about what happened or a kind or "wrap-up" to the story. In this case it was an imaginery scenario with the 6 murder victims and it made little sense to this reader.

Perhaps it is that the author is away from his home. Perhaps it is worth noting that he didn't remind everyone on EVERY page that he had been a juror in another trial........but I found this book a lot better than his previous books.The author still has a weird thing about reporting tie colors, but other than that, I think he brought out the flavor of the trial very well.

I am delighted to see important cases discussed from a jurors point of view. After all, jurors make the decisions whether or not to convict, sometimes they decide punishment...yet we hear almost nothing about this crucial part of our legal system in true crime books. Why is that.I'm going to be looking for books by this author in the future.

This is an excellent job showing the readers what it's like to be a juror. I have never thought of all the emotions people are put through when they are chose to make a decision on how someone is to be punished due to their crime . Excellent read for people who like true crime and also an excellent book for anyone .

Not what I expected. I learned a few things in the forensic science segments, but the description of what each of the attorneys, jurors, and witnesses was wearing each and every day was just way, way too much. It was unnecessary and boring. IF the author continues writing, I hope he hires a competent editor or, at the very least, a proofreader. It might help. Then again......

A heartbreaking story, written with clarity, compassion and attention to detail. This is yet another book by Paul Sanders that did not disappoint. The reader is transported to the court room, and feels like they are viewing this firsthand.

I have been an inconsistent student of A Course in Miracles for 20 years. I say "inconsistent" because although I love the principles, so much of the text seems impenetrable and downright confusing. Alan Cohen's groundbreaking "A Course in Miracles Made Easy" beautifully illuminates the text, providing clarity for both new and long-time Course students. And for those who can't get through the Course, don't give up--this book will give you all you need. Many will also find renewed enthusiasm for re-reading the Course (I did), because it no longer seems so daunting. I also felt tremendous inner peace while reading "ACIM Made Easy"-- the whole point of ACIM. Unlike much of the Course (which tends to be deliberately circuitous), this book is clear and direct. If you want to feel lighter and more in love with you life, give it a try. You may even experience a miracle.

I never write reviews, but this book saved my life. My brain was so bogged down with hard things that had happened to me over the past few years that I could not think straight. Alan Cohen's interpretation of A Course in Miracles gives you a way out of emotional pain and helps you understand how to get your life back from experiences that have been mentally crushing. I read it over and over.

I just finished this and it was a joy to read. Alan Cohen made the key premises of ACIM simple and clear. I also ordered the workbook as he suggested and find I am eager and ready to do the exercises each morning. In terms of humankind's beliefs, the premises (promises??!) of the text are a radical and uplifting shift from the drugery of "success" that leaves most everyone feeling so empty and lost. A few examples of some of them are: You are whole and holy, not a problem to be fixed. There is nothing you need obtain or do to "deserve" happiness and health, in fact, it is your birthright and your normal state. Your health depends ONLY on the health of your mind. You are always forgiven for EVERYTHING, in fact, there was never anything to forgive. RADICAL departure right??? Reading these ideas lifted my heart and brought a profound sense of peace. I imagine there will be quite a few people that will. at the very least, question some of these thoughts and THAT IS GOOD, and some will resist these ideas entirely (i.e. Illness is only brought on from the way you think might push quite a few buttons especially if you are ill) however just opening your mind to entertain these ideas cracks open your mind and heart and that's the idea...God and Grace swoop in anytime there is an opening, however slight. I would love to live in a world where these words were truth with a capital"T" and judging from the eagerness of my heart while reading this book, I believe they are.

A quick read (especially compared to ACIM). I am reading ACIM slowly but surely. I didn't want to just plow through it, but this intro book allowed me to feel like I got the gist of it while I work my way through ACIM over a longer period of time. It's easy to understand and seems to hit the high notes. Really enjoy the writer's perspective and synthesis.

A Course in Miracles, made easy, is a companion book for the ACIM (A Course in Miracles), the self-study spiritual-thought system that teaches the way to love and forgiveness. For many, the original ACIM text is obscure and cryptic, leading author Alan Cohen to joke, “ACIM is the only book that has been purchased by millions, but only read by a few.”I am new to Mr. Cohen’s teaching, discovering him through his show on Hay House Radio, where he discussed his book. Cohen is an excellent teacher, a concise writer and wonderful storyteller. Loved this book. It's full of wonderful reasons why it's great to be on this planet. We have so much to be grateful for! It also is a great reminder that we all have the choice to make every decision based out of love or out of, fear. Choose love and life will be more joyous. Love, love, love! It certainly isn't the easiest thing to do all the time but when you do it, it sure makes a big difference.

Just received the book a couple of hours ago and have read several chapters. It is NOT a cookbook-style tutorial written for readers who have limited experience with Stata or other similar software platforms. As far as I have read, materials are not well organized and beginners will be confused for sure: some details and "if you" scenarios are introduced too early and readers might be distracted. Not reader-friendly and steps of software operation are deeply buried in lengthy narratives. So be patient when reading. For software users, as far as I recall, the cookbook-style has been mainstream since the 1990s. But this book seems an exception. It is OK for readers who have already had some work experience with Stata. But for beginners, avoid it.

Explained the basic functions of Stata pretty well. I think having another chapter on the end that explained some more of the advance features of Stata and shortcuts and other neat tricks would be helpful instead of the current last chapter which is just a confusing mess of trying to get people to look up random things that aren't otherwise covered in the book.

My mentor recommended this book to me because my department recently switched the stats package we all use in our classes. This is a great way to learn the software -and- data analysis at the same time. This books spells things out in terms that non-statisticians can grasp. Totally worth the money!

Great little book

Got delivered really quickly. I DO wish it had a few more examples and really went into some more complex problems using STATA, but this is a really solid introduction to using STATA for data analysis.

My 2yo is obsessed with the idea of school. This appeases her desires to learn without being overwhelming or too babyish. The pages are very thick compared to most workbooks so it makes it easy to do them over and over with different colors. I have been tempted to take them out and just laminate them so she could have a book she can do over and over.

I bought this for my two year old granddaughter who is extremely smart for her age. It's loaded with fun images and easy practice pages for comparing items, drawing lines, counting, etc.

This book delved deep into how many black girls are formed... patriarchal, religious father who corrects with brutality. There are so many layers and how each generation was affected... women and girls who grow to repeat how they were treated and try to compensate with over achievement, social acceptance and filling the unloved holes with food. There are also familial coverups that leech down into souls and can’t be recovered from because there’s no admittance from the perpetrators. This book in necessary. #cillasbookmaniacs

As I have stated so many times in the past, and I doubt this will be the last time, I believe that each reader’s experience of a book is colored by their own background, personality and relationships; this is what makes reading such an individual pursuit, but also makes for meaningful discussion and offers the opportunity to broaden our perspective.The Care and Feeding of Ravenously Hungry Girls impacted me on a very personal level; I have experience with both incarceration and disordered eating (and I will note that individuals for whom these are difficult topics should be aware of their presence within this novel), so I felt very connected to several of the characters within this book."I always promised myself I’d never be one fo those crisis Christians, running to God or Jesus or whoever in times of trouble. But here I am. In trouble. In crisis. Sitting up here in jail Bible study."While the story is centered around married couple Althea and Proctor, who are sentenced to incarceration in federal prison after defrauding their community through charity events, it includes Althea’s two sisters and brother as well as Althea and Proctor’s two daughters. What makes the story remarkable is that each of these family members are hurting, all stricken with wounds that continue to reopen with each new development they are forced to endure. As I was once told, hurting people hurt people; that statement proves true in this novel.In addition, each have found their own methods of coping with their pain; as one might guess, they are not healthy mechanisms and present their own set of problems that affect they way in which they interact with one another. Before you reject this one in despair, the beauty is found in Gray’s ability to built such rich, complex characters, full of so much compassion and descriptive emotion that I found myself irreversibly connected to their stories."Women like me pay attention to very thin girls like her who leave full or overly messy or manipulated plates. Siblings who are fraught with the trouble they have tried to leave behind that is now bubbling over because of one’s self-inflicted damage that has landed right in their laps and spread itself far and wide.Daughters who long for mothers. Sisters who need sisters. Everyone is hungry for something. And, it’s not all being served at the table.What are we without support, love, and forgiveness. Women rise to the occasion in this book and oh, what a beautiful thing it is.

From the title I was expecting a light read. Boy, was I surprised. After the first few pages I thought it would be so dark and heavy that I wouldn't be able to slog through it. But I felt myself drawn into the story and the characters to the point I was thinking about them -- what they did and what drove them, what they were going to do, how they felt--at the times I wasn't able to be reading. In other words, this was a couldn't-put-it-down page-turner for me. Well written, well developed plot, deeply developed characters, a beautiful story of family, love and forgiveness.

I had a hard time following the characters and some of the slang had me puzzled. Overall a good story about people with deepest problems.

Anissa Gray’s debut is sure to please any reader. The characters are multidimensional and the plot line keeps the reader in suspense until the end. The story describes the family issues that can bring family members to connect deeply and at other times disconnect fully.

I believe that it's the best investment I ever made during my 10 years as an entrepreneur! I sold my small business in January 2016 and this book was instrumental not only in my preparation to sell the business but in the actual execution of the sale.About two years before the sale (November 2013), I wrote a strategic plan for my business and it was at that point that I decided I wanted to sell the business in time to have it sold by my 62nd birthday and before the lease I had expired and needed to be renewed. I developed a timeline to give myself a year for the sale process (starting in June 2015) and included a 6 month transition period with the future owner. In this plan, I also included a list of opportunities for growth that I wasn't going to implement but thought that the future owner should have.I bought this book right away and read it during the holidays that year to get an idea of the steps I needed to take. Over the course of the next year and a half, I slowly began to set things up for the sale, according to the author's suggestions. I began documenting the processes of the business (since everything was in my head and there was very little on paper), but it was not yet organized in an operations manual. Since I was so involved in the day to day of running my business, the ideas from the book were in the back of my mind, but not something I focused on everyday. I was very slowly doing the important things to get ready.The two most important things I needed were to get an operations manual finalized and the last 5 years of financial data created in the form that showed the true profitability (without the owner perks). I was able to get one of my employees to create the manual before she graduated from college and left to begin her career (in May of 2015) and had asked my CPA to prepare the financial data. We met in May to look at the reports and it was in that conversation that he asked me if I were ready to sell because he had a client looking for a business like mine. I told him yes and he setup a conference call for his client and I to discuss the business.Here's where the book had the greatest impact. After that conversation, the CPA called me to tell me the client was very interested in coming to visit my business, but that I had a lot of work to do. I needed to prepare a document describing my business and get it back to him in a few days. Thank God for this book and the template for creating the Seller's Memorandum! In one weekend, I was able to create this document, including the pictures and all the points that needed to be made. What's amazing is that when I got to the part about including future opportunities, I remembered the strategic plan I had written (which I had not looked at since I wrote it) and went back to pull that information. I noticed that the timeline to begin the sales process was June 2015 and the date that I was creating the memorandum with the book's template was June 1, 2015!As it turns out, the client came to visit, he and his wife fell in love with my business, and they purchased it with cash (no financing at all) within 7 months. It wasn't the easiest process dealing with the landlord to transfer the lease and negotiate a renewal for the new owner, and at the end, we got it done. The buyer negotiated a 9 month transition with me, which has been successfully completed.I can't quantify how much this book helped me. I recommend it highly to anyone wanting to sell their business.

I wish I read the other reviews first: This is a good book but there are no CDs! She references the CDs quite a bit. I am willing to buy them because the book is good but how??

Hello!I have been reading the book and I previously complained on this site that the files from the CD ROM were not accessible to Kindle users. I was frustrated because the book content is SO GOOD, and I wanted to get started with my homework and work on the forms. Immediately, the writer wrote to me personally and sent me all the files. It was her husband birthday and she was away from her computer, but still she wrote to me by iphone to reassure me.It's the first time I purchase a book, and it comes with such a personal and nice after sales service. Im impressed with the book, and also with the author. The book is full of crucial information, it's very methodical, and guides you through all the steps, from the mind, to the paper. I have downloaded samples of others books to compare and see. I did not find it necessary to read them. Everything is covered in her book.

I got this prime digital, but they did not send me the CD rom that suppose to come with this book.The book references back on it and also important forms that you need or only on the CD.And if the case is because you buy digital that the forms should come at least in a attachment with digital book or by email.I feel short changed just because I went digital and didn't buy the actual paper back book.

Great book. Very helpful. Lots of details. Not everything will apply to every business, but I recommend reading the whole thing just to have a better understanding of the processes involved.

This is an excellent review for anyone selling a business, either on your own or with a broker. The exercises and included CD allow the owner to put together all the important information needed for a sale. There are also many suggestions and ideas to do the best.

Picked up some good tips while selling my business. As with all 'Dummies' books many good points to use.yea yea
