I really didn’t know what to expect when I ordered Undisputed Street Fighter Deluxe Edition. The previews I saw only showed pages that focussed on individual characters and the fighter profiles are a significant part of the book. Udon already produced its World Warrior Encyclopedia but that one just collated information from game cutscenes and endings. The profiles here are more of a behind the scenes look at character development. Rather than competing with each other they complement each other. The major characters get six pages of info but lesser characters might just get one. For shear volume of information you could just peruse WIkipedia but at the end of my review I’ll get into what sets Undisputed apart from the rest. Let me also add that this book is FAR more than just character profiles.The book is well structured. I love the way it starts off by returning to the early 90’s and discusses the arcade scene and the stars of the Street Fighter tournaments. I was an arcade gamer during this era but this was before the internet so the only thing I knew was the existence of the Street Fighter games at my local arcades. This book fills in the world of Street Fighter outside of the very limited scope of vision I had at the time. Over the years I’ve become much more knowledgeable of Street Fighter but I had no idea who the major players were in the Street Fighter tournament universe. I didn’t know that the first Street Fighter machines were intended to have a single huge attack button where the strength of attack would depend on how hard you pounded it. I was unaware that the U.S. machines had different artwork than the overseas machines because it was felt that American gamers would reject the anime look (my, how times have changed).What really sets this book apart is how much research is done on the people involved with Street Fighter. Whether it’s interviewing players, creators or collectors you get a perspective from those who loved the game most. Let’s be honest. You can’t have a 30th anniversary celebration unless some of those involved from the beginning are starting to get on in age. As time goes on we will begin losing some of those creators which makes a book like this important from a historical standpoint in order to preserve these views. I may be a big geek but I also found it fascinating to read an article on a guy who creates custom made Lego minifigs of Street Fighter characters or one on the collecting of original Street Fighter artwork. There are tons of little articles on all things Street Fighter related including one just devoted to the development of the animation behind the Haddoken. I love it.Steve Henderson is clearly a Street Fighter fan but he doesn’t come off as a fawning fanboy. He admits that Street Fighter: The Movie was pretty bad and said that the three comic issues produced by Malibu were two comics too many. On the other hand, he talks quite a bit about Street Fighter: Generations without mentioning that it was tragically awful. I was surprised to learn that it was Udon comics (which I love) which had approached Capcom about getting the Street Fighter license. I always assumed that Capcom had commissioned Udon to produce the comics. In fact, after Street Fighter III Capcom had pretty much given up on Street Fighter until they were convinced to revive it in 2008. I will admit that Capcom is currently on my S**t-list with their Playstation exclusivity on SF IV and V. I only got to play IV because it was released on the Nintendo 3DS but I’ve never even touched SF V. I understand there are extenuating financial reasons but this Faustian bargain was a terrible way to expand your fan base.All in all I enjoyed this book a lot more than I expected. Do I think the Deluxe Edition is worth the MSRP of $99? No. Is it worth the $60 that Amazon is currently selling it? If you’re a Street Fighter super fan with disposable income I might say yes. If you’re just a fan I would suggest the paperback version which is less than half the cost. For an extra $35 you get a hard cover, a die cut slipcase, a ribbon bookmark (whoop de doo), three underwhelming art prints that aren’t drawn in any Street Fighter style I’ve ever seen and a folded model that looks like a tiny arcade machine except it’s completely different from any actual Street Fighter arcade machine. I don’t regret springing for the deluxe version but I tend to collect books as well as read them. I would recommend any real Street Fighter fan pick up one of the books, depending on your budget, because they are super entertaining and filled with tons of fascinating info.

This is a hard review to write for a single reason. I'll get right to it. The book, for all of the research and love that was put into it rewrites history. Specifically Evolution 2004. Evo 2004 Moment 37. Anyone who's a fan of Street Fighter or the FGC would know this as the pinnacle of tournament moments and excitement in Street Fighter history. And it gets it wrong. It's probably just a typo, but in telling the tale, it reverses Justin Wong and his Chun Li and Daigo Uemehara with Ken. According to this book, Daigo used Chun parrying Justin's Ken. Now I suppose this could be overlooked and the rest of the books seems to be well thought out and researched. Pics of the past, etc. are truly a labor of love. But it gets the most incredible moment of tournament play completely wrong. I think that alone will cost it a star and I hope this can be fixed in future printings as well as the Kindle versions.The Deluxe edition is interesting as far as a package for a SF fan. Hardcover, and the hard sleeve looks like US SF2 machine. There little paper craft is also a SF machine...that doesn't look like the old SF machine which was a missed opportunity. The art prints are hit and miss, but your mileage will vary. All in all, the book is great but that one error....

This book is insane! it features so much content that will blow your mind! things like the SF History, Franchise, Story, Elements, People Behind the Scenes, documentary, References, Immortalization of it's Legend and what not! vast information on ALL of it's Fighters & Characters, Designs, Art, Art Direction and more! a must have for all die hard Street Fighter Fans! Also: The Deluxe Edition features a really amazing Arcade-Themed slipcase which will made you a real nostalgic feeling! and it's extra lithographs are a nice adding!

As a lifelong fan of Street Fighter since II, let me tell you this is worth it. Especially with the discount here on Amazon. Get it while you can. Even includes a cardboard cutout of an arcade cabinet for a fun DIY project!

This was a gift for my boyfriend and he was very impressed by it. The print is beautiful and the construction of the book and protective sleeve/case are high quality.

My son is an avid SF fan and he LOVED this. It came with 3 art plates that make great posters and depictions of SF characters and the book has a beautiful layout. Great buy and worth every penny.

I've relished using the Fifth Edition, with its concise format, easy to read, and up to date information on all the major aspects of practicing psychopharmacology.So I was excited to order the Sixth Edition, to keep up to date.Unfortunately, it's a few years out of date, with omissions including Vilazodone, Asenapine, Iloperidone and Lurasidone. TMS is also not in, though ECT is, as it was in the past.It's nicely updated newer indications, and more recent clinical trials, for many of the more familiar medications, from Topiramate to Pregabalin. The index is also inferior, omitting to include listings for Varenicline and Paliperidone (which ARE included in the book).The shrunken text is also a bit of a bother, especially for those of us oldies with presbyacusis. The Fifth Edition was certainly easier to read with comfort.I still recommend purchasing this new edition, since it will be several more years before a Seventh Edition emerges, to include the newest meds.

I've read all editions of this book and I'm really impressed. Rosenbaum, et. al. are masters of the art of psychopharmacology. This book covers almost all areas relevant to practicing psychiatrists. Despite its breadth, you can finish reading the book in a couple of days. Finally, this book is an excellent resource for the certification exam in Advanced Psychopharmacology offered by the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology (ASCP).Just recently, I've read its 6th edition. So easy and fun to digest! Despite the handbook's small size, the amount of information has been truly remarkable. I highly recommend it for busy, and of course not-so-busy, clinicians preparing for ABPN's psychiatry certification exam.

This is well written book that balances the real life experience of clinicians and the psychopharmacology of the common drugs used to treat mental illness.It is pithy and to the point.

I bought this book because, like so many other samples I have downloaded, it started off so well. It was interesting and well written. But once on the hook for the price of the book, it was all downhill. It’s like the author and her editor just stopped trying.Unending chapters full of tedious paragraphs full of rhetorical questions to herself? No thanks. Big mystery with a shocking reveal? Nope. None of the results she gets from dna tests are even remotely shocking or interesting. The blurbs for this book are very misleading. Don’t waste your money.

I liked this book very much. Alex’s personality shines through nicely, it’s a fun, nerdy wit. I agree with some of the other reviewers that there isn’t a big “a-ha” revelatory moment, but that is also the point. We do identify and identify with race, but the conclusions we may draw from anything we go out looking for may fall flat, whether it’s delving into history books, or getting shaky science DNA tests.We are all on earth biding time till death, it’s a personal journey, whatever we are to make of it, whatever history we want to tie ourselves to, whatever history we want to make for ourselves, it’s up to us.I like the idea another reviewer had, that Alex could go on to become a Burmese historian, there is a lot of unknown there. Definitely a lot of work!

It’s a story about finding yourself in America. Looking back at the past and realizing that you’re, instead, in the present and the future.Honestly, didn’t find it too insightful. I didn’t really care to read her adventures through archives and continents, but I stuck through it and found her quiet acceptance of being American and metropolitan. Okay. Sure, I guess.Read it because Obama said it was “a thoughtful, beautiful meditation on what makes us who we are and the values and ideals that bind us together as Americans.” I found it more a rambling book about research methods, she’s grasping for more and there’s nothing there. Nonetheless, she talks about things I’ve been thinking about recently, and her prose is good.

Our search for roots takes us deep into the history of the world. I found myself fascinated by Burmese nationalism and the Franco-Prussian War as these things affected everyday citizens. A Howard Zinn way of looking at history. And the delve into the science behind DNA testing was helpful. Most of all I like her conclusions as she answers the questions “Who are we? To whom do we belong?”

Seemed to me that she reviewed the same stories again and again. It was a slow read. But an interesting topic.

Maybe I am the odd person out in that I don't go to Huckleberry for the bakery goods but rather for their delicious salad and sandwich offerings, so I was hoping to see more of those in this book since the description cites savory foods. Even so, those that are included are delicious, especially if you like finding new ways with eggs.A few specifics: even though avocado toast has been a staple in my family for decades, Huckleberry's Smashed Avocado Toast with Hard-Boiled Eggs and Anchovy Dressing takes it to an insanely delicious new level. My son would say that that recipe alone is worth the price of this book. Fortunately, there are quite a few more than that. The Vegetarian Croque is wonderful as are the frittatas. The Polenta with Roasted Asparagus, Crispy Prosciutto and Egg is quite good without the polenta! Next, I'm looking forward to tackling the house-cured salmon.This is a beautiful cookbook. Tons of photos of the food as well as instructional photos. Hopefully the next one will have more of the salad and sandwich recipes I was expecting.

I'm a professional baker. I'm always dumbfounded people review cookbooks without having tried a single recipe. So I wanted to try a few before reviewing. We use adapted recipes from a variety of different cookbooks everyday at the bakery where I work. I was stoked to get this cookbook because I also trust Ina (and love Elijah Wood!), and the fact that Zoe trained at Tartine which is all the rage right now... But sadly, something is way off with these recipes. The chocolate chunk muffins are NOT okay. The chocolate glazed donuts were a disaster. Soggy fried mess. (We make donuts at the store every Sunday). The maple bacon biscuits were flavorful but pretty dense. They were scones really. (Yes, I know how to make a biscuit and the count was super off for what they said to make). Two stars rather than one because I do love the stories. They did a good job making it personal, a real glimpse into a bakery. And the lemon cornmeal cake came out perfect. The hippie apple muffins were good. Also know that the muffin recipes that do come out are like birthday cake rather than a muffin texture. I'm not sure if they use flours with different moisture content and they're not super up front about that. I don't know. But I don't have disasters with Ina's recipes. Ever. I've not had any disasters like this in a long time. With that said, I'm sure everything at the actual bakery is delicious. But aside from the lemon cornmeal I am super bummed with these recipes.

Even though this book is lovely and has a lot of amazing recipes I can't wait to try, there are some errors. For the blueberry brioche (pg. 108) the weight measurement does not correctly correspond to the volume measurement. It calls for 1 cup + 2 Tbsp of AP flour and equates that to 280 grams. That's incorrect. Same mistake is done for the bread flour (1 cup + 2 Tbsp does not equal 280 grams). I always follow weight measurements, I wish I had checked the volume measurement prior to doing so. It was a dry disaster, wasting over 4 cups of flour and 4 eggs.1 cup + 2 Tbsp is about 140 grams. I made it over using 140 grams of AP flour and 140 grams of bread flour and it worked. Check recipes prior to starting to ensure weight and volume measurements equate.I also wish there was perhaps a little more explanation for temperatures. Should eggs be brought to room temperature? And how warm is slightly warm milk? Type-A personality kicking in here. Just some minor issues, but overall lovely book. Glad I purchased it. Can't wait to try some other recipes. Hope this helps!

Wow. I was so excited about this book. The chocolate chunk muffins look beautiful in the book, so I decided to make them this morning. Twice. The first time, I followed the recipe to an absolute T. The results were nothing less than disastrous. (I posted a picture below. This was after I had to remove half the batter from the muffin cups because of the overflow.) I make hundreds of muffins a week, and have never seen results like this. I decided to try again because I was determined to have chocolate chunk muffins. This time, I used half the amount of yogurt, and did not use a mixer like the recipe says to do. They turned out better, but still sunk in the middle. The taste was decent, but they looked terrible. The texture is super light and airy, not dense like you would expect from a muffin. Waste of money on the book, and on ingredients. Now I am to afraid to try anything else in the book. Ridiculous.

The pictures are beautiful, the recipes inviting but the mistakes are unforgivable ! Baking is like chemistry really no room for error ! It is hurtful to waste expensive chocolate, butter, flour and eggs making muffins that are so bad they go in the trash. I want to love this book but I will not bake anything else in this book. I will move on to breakfast items with the hope I do not discover any mistakes. I hope someone edits future editions and makes corrections. Heartbreaking !

(vomit)The book is brief, but it needs to be. You'd read it when you are very sick and very busy. At barely over 100 pages, it is a quick read and it is easy to take to the hospital with you.

Hmmmm... so you have your General Class license and your heating up the ionosphere with all your SSB traffic (well maybe just 80 and 160 meters these days), but you know how it goes: all the cool kids have Amateur Extra licenses, and, well, you looked into it, but that exam is 50(!) questions, and the question pool is over 700(!) questions, and the material is sooo obscure, and the questions sooo hard, and you never have time to study, and you didn't see your kids for a month when you studied for the General license...OK there's some truth to all that, but the Amateur Extra is not that bad: you just have to put in the extra time (no pun intended) to prepare, probably double what you spent on the General. And that's where this book comes in: it provides a trimmed-down narrative that explains just enough of the theory (with exam answers in bold lettering) so you can connect the dots.I used Dan's Non Nonsense study guide for my General license, so naturally I chose his study guide for the Extra license. I criticized his General guide for being "light on theory," but for some reason, this Extra license study guide was better: it worked well for me.I recommend casually reading thru all 10 topics, then going back and reading them more slowly to understand them. Dan's starts out with some heavy duty, electrical principles (E5), and slides right into scary circuit components (E6). Oh man, was I lost at first, but on my second read-through, I started remembering some of the theory and the answers started to look familiar. As soon as you're comfortable, take a practice tests and study the questions you got wrong. Then go back to Dan's book and study that topic further.If you're not an electrical or electronics engineer, you're not going to digest all this material in a week, or cram the night before. I admit I sort of panicked two weeks before the exam and purchased the ARRL Extra Q&A book (which is more than just the questions and answers), but I found myself switching back to Dan's book for the "why" or a deeper explanation of the "what."As always, pick your VE location and date first, then work backwards to see how long you need to study. This hard deadline will help motivate you and keep you on track. I estimate I spent 50 hours over seven weeks (about an hour a day) to prepare, including nine practice tests thru the ARRL website. There is a smattering of Technician and General material repeated in the Extra material, but most of it will be new and quite obscure. Voltage leading current or current leading voltage? Elliptically polarized waves? What the heck are resistance circles and reactance arcs? Obscure indeed. But that's why you need Dan's study guide.

If you're going to memorize the questions, then you should at least get the answers framed with a little context, and that's what this series of books does. The physics parts are backed up by just enough extra context to make wikipedia searching the rest make sense. Great resource for beginners and seasoned pros going for their upgrade.

This book gives you the bare-bones information for passing the FCC Amateur Extra exam. It was exactly what I was looking for, since I can easily find more details from other sources. This book makes it easy to cover the material quickly.

This is a great study tool for learning the answers to the test. I use it with a sample test App to practice the questions. It doesn't teach the theory behind the answers, however. If you want to learn the subject matter you should use this in conjunction with the ARRL book.

I aced the Tech and General tests. Thought I would try for the Extra by purchasing this book. This author assumes your an expert at the General level. If your not stay away from this book. Too confusing for the new Generals to understand.

Dan's Technician and General books are top notch. They are a must if you want to get your ticket or upgrade.The Extra book is the same. He boils down a very complex set of questions to the base of the pool.

It is nice to see only see the correct answer so you don't get confused when you are studying for the test. Like the Ham Whisperer.

Good study guide. Only complaint is that the cover is not heavy stock and it curls badly. Maybe I got a bad batch. That aside the guide is good although I prefer the Craig Buck study guide.
